The plan will throw literal and metaphorical shadow over Archway for decades to come. If we demolish our historic heart to accommodate students in a high-rise block, we won’t be able to get it back. Archway wants a redevelopment that meets the desperate need for affordable, quality housing and delivers on the promises of the Local Plan. This proposal isn’t going to do that. The plans contravene the Council’s policies and regulations - is this the first tall tower in a new Gotham City?

We need to write to the council and tell them: We want this site developed, but this is the wrong plan.

Messages are most effective when they come from individuals and are in their own words (which is why we're not providing a template or examples here). Every person in the household can write!

This plan will overwhelm our neighbourhood and services, damage our community, and see the demolition of Victorian buildings. The tower will cause further wind blight and cast a shadow over our homes, streets, and play areas. There is a scheme that the community supported that was more sustainable, sympathetic to the area, and didn’t put a tower in the heart of Archway.

There's no wrong way to write – just say what you think.

Email Planning@islington.gov.uk and include the application number (P2024/2598/FUL) in the subject line. You can read the full proposal via the portal

speak to your councillor. Call your MP.

Tell the planning committee councillors what you think.

You can take action and make a difference.

Submit representations to the council via email and make sure that elected officials know how the proposal will affect you and your community. If you live outside the ward or Islington you could still feel the impact and want to voice your concerns to your elected officials given the significant impact of the tower, in particular, on views.
